Inclusive Laser Technology at Forever Institut

Whether they are interested in hair removal, rejuvenation or tattoo removal, a majority of men and women with mixed or black skin think that lasers are not an option and that they are reserved for fair skins. Well, it's not true !

Lasers work because the colour of the target to be destroyed is different from the rest of the skin. For example, a red blood vessel, a brown spot or a black hair on fair skin; the laser's light energy captured by the haemoglobin or by the very dense melanin is transformed into heat and destroys them, while the rest of the skin remains unharmed.

Question : In this case, if you want to do laser hair removal, how can you avoid burning very brown or black skin, which contains a huge amount of melanin in all the layers of its epidermis?

Response: Some lasers, such as Nd:YAG, emit light energy (wavelength) that is only slightly absorbed by melanin, but enough to destroy the hair without raising the temperature of the surrounding skin.

Although the Nd:YAG laser has been used for hair removal or tattoo removal on black and mixed-race skin for 20 years, it is only more recently, thanks to the new picosecond technology, that other lasers such as the Nd:YAG laser have been used. PicoSure can be used to remove colours other than black from dark skin, lighten brown spots, even out skin tone and rejuvenate the skin of people with phototypes III, IV or V.

In reference to Michael Jackson, "it doesn't matter if you're black or white"!
