About the treatment

Intimate surgery enables a woman’s genitals to be corrected, improved or repaired through quick and simple procedures. This surgery is gaining in popularity, as it helps patients to recover their self-confidence and to have a more fulfilled sex life.

Labiaplasty is the most frequent form of intimate female surgery. There are several techniques that can reduce the inner labia, with so-called ‘V-plasty’ most often used by plastic surgeons. This approach means that the inner labia can be reduced whilst the shape and appearance of the labia is maintained.

The procedure lasts between 30 and 45 minutes and is carried out under local anaesthetic as an outpatient procedure (meaning there is no need to stay overnight). For our patients’ comfort, we apply an anaesthetic creme before then anaesthetising the area with an extremely fine needle, thus making the injection painless.

This surgery can be used

  • on the inner labia
  • on the outer labia
  • on the clitoral hood
  • on the mons pubis
  • on the hymen
  • and to treat vaginal looseness

Labiaplasty can also be carried out using a gyno-aesthetic approach (link to the gyno-aesthetic page): which may, for example, involve injecting hyaluronic acid to rehydrate the vagina and plump up the outer labia.

No longer worrying about the appearance of your genitals can have a hugely positive effect on your self-confidence and sexual fulfilment. Labiaplasty offers long-term results.

Good to know

The post-operative effects of lybiaplasty are minimal if you follow simple rules of hygiene and take basic precautions. The treatment is relatively painless, feeling something like a small burn. In the majority of cases, everyday medication, such as paracetamol, is all you need to take for a few days.

The treated area needs to be kept clean and sterile until the sutures come out around three weeks after the procedure. You can still shower, however sexual activity and the use of tampons is not allowed for around 4 to 6 weeks after the treatment.
