Aesthetic surgery to correct sagging breasts

About the treatment

A number of women suffer from sagging breasts and are conscious about how this looks. This is often associated with a fall in volume in the upper part of the breast. Breast ptosis (the sagging and drooping of the breasts) can occur following significant weight loss, pregnancy or a long period of breastfeeding.

A breast lift is a surgical procedure that is designed to move the nipple and areola on sagging breasts, remove any excess skin and reshape the mammary gland to create breasts that are harmonious and nicely curved with a good appearance. If the areolae are enlarged, it is also possible to reduce their size during the procedure.

The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic and takes about two hours. Consequently, it requires 1-2 days in hospital.

  • After the nipple has been repositioned, the volume of the breast is moved up, concentrated and reshaped in harmony with the patient’s figure and according to what they want.
  • A lack of volume in the breasts can also be corrected during a breast lift procedure, using implants or by injecting fat (known as lipofilling).

A breast lift helps to regain balanced, firm and curvaceous breasts. The final result can be seen just three months after the procedure.

Beyond the improved shape of the breasts, this procedure has a positive effect on other aspects of your life, such as when playing sport and the sort of clothes you can wear (such as low-cut dresses and halternecks), along with your psychological well- being.

This means that, in the vast majority of cases, this procedure, which is well- researched beforehand and properly carried out, gives a result with which you will be extremely satisfied.

Good to know

The recovery time is the main inconvenience involved with a breast lift. How much time is needed depends on how much tissue the breasts have lost (known as hypotrophy), and the extent of ptosis.

Laser treatment, microneedling and other aesthetic treatments encourage healing and the return of excellent skin quality around those areas that have had stitches.

Post-operative effects of these treatments involve less discomfort than breast implants. Generally, there is some swelling (oedema), bruising and discomfort when raising your arms. Consequently, we recommend local treatments and complete rest for ten days after the procedure.
