What is it ?

There are a great variety of lasers, each with very specific light emission characteristics. Their use will depend on the type of lesion requiring treatment and the results desired. Used under medical surveillance, lasers are safe and efficient whilst relatively non invasive. Forever Laser Institut uses a dozen different lasers. This extensive choice helps us to offer the most efficient and personalised solution to each of our patients.

What is the procedure ?

• Medical history: As before any medical intervention, the therapist draws up a treatment plan depending on the type of skin lesion and the desired results.

• Physical examination: The second stage of the first laser consultation aims to establish a precise diagnosis of the vascular and pigmentary lesions to be treated. 

• Photos of the areas to be treated: In certain cases, it is useful for the therapist to have photographic documentation of the area requiring treatment, particularly when sessions span a number of months.  Photos help to follow the evolution of the laser treatments with precision. 

• Diagnosis and establishing the treatment protocol: The therapist offers a programme and discusses the technique and expected results with the patient. 

• Skin test: Depending on the patient and therapist’s recommendation, a laser test is sometimes offered during the first consultation.  This test is carried out on a small area and tests the skin’s reaction and allows the appropriate laser parameters to be determined. 

• Laser use: The therapist asks the patient to protect their eyes with special glasses.  The patient lies down on an examination table for comfort.  The therapist applies the laser head on the area requiring treatment and triggers the laser.  The length of the session varies according to the required treatment.

Side effects ?

Small superficial skin burns can occur and will quickly disappear without leaving a trace. Hyper or hypo-pigmentation can happen, but are mostly reversible. Skin redness can be associated with a sensation of heat (which can be reduced using a cooling technique) on the treated area and will vanish after a few hours.
