There are various types of wrinkles that can be differentiated either by where they are located, or by the way they are formed. On the face, the small folds that form when you frown or smile are expression-induced wrinkles. With age, the same fold becomes permanently marked. The wrinkles that form on the forehead are forehead wrinkles, those between the eyebrows are called brow furrows and those around the eyes crow's feet. These wrinkles can be treated with Botox® injections. The wrinkles present on the cheeks, neck, and neckline are secondary wrinkles due to a loss of elasticity of the dermis combined with an alteration of the dermis' extracellular matrix and a loss of volume for the skin's underlying tissues. These wrinkles can be treated with hyaluronic acid injections.
