Stretch marks are skin grooves that appear following an exaggerated distension of the skin or following a hormonal change. Stretch marks are accompanied with an important loss of the skin's elasticity. They mainly appear on the stomach, breasts, thighs, buttocks, shoulders and lower back. At the beginning, stretch marks are slightly raised and red; they then take on a whitish, atrophic appearance. When they are red and raised, they can be treated by pulsed dye laser (Vbeam Perfecta). Once white and atrophic, they are much harder to treat (carboxytherapy).
