Desquamation

Elimination of the cells in the stratum corneum in the form of small flakes. Desquamation is a physiological phenomenon that alters with age. Some creams containing lactic acid, urea or ammonium lactate, help to re-establish efficient desquamation and therefore gives the skin back its silky feel.
